Some people are born to make a colossal difference, through their non-stop hard work and giant compassion for their communities. Dorian Baxter definitely belongs to this group. Born in Kenya, he immigrated to Canada in 1968 at the age of 18, shortly after becoming a champion in backstroke swimming, and having been a boxer in Kenya’s national championships. He has never given up this discipline, and he even received third place in the backstroke during the 2010 Canadian National Masters Championship, in Nanaimo, B.C.

Dorian graduated from Teacher’s College in 1970 and started teaching. Although Dorian obtained his province of Ontario principal’s papers in 1989, his passion to share his knowledge with those who seek knowledge did not allow him to accept an office job, and he continued teaching and coaching for the next 33 years, across Ontario, 18 years of which were with the York Region Board of Education.
