I have a question about medical consent when parents have joint custody. Please keep this anonymous. This case in ongoing in court. The court has ordered psychiatric evaluations. Father went to doctor for referral. Doctor refused to give one, saying the mother has already been to see him, and he wrote a letter to the judge saying the evaluation is not needed. He will not give any referrals until he has heard back from the judge. This seems to cross a huge line. The judge ordered this based on evidence the doctor has not seen.

The court also ordered the mother bring communication book to appts. and doctor is to write in it for father. Doctor refused to even look at his order. Has anyone ever heard of a doctor writing a judge to challenge an order???

I know a letter from a doctor will not change the order, but it is going to delay things and perhaps cause harm to the child. I wonder if the judge will even bother to respond? Father went to different clinic for a referral, but I know the mother will not do this. Any info on how to deal with doctors like this????
