If they will not fill out an acknowledgement of service (AKA acknowledge service) then simply write an affidavit of service and file it and send a copy of it to the contact address of the other party. If there is inappropriate behavior in response to the service don't touch the papers again and leave. Promptly report any violence, threats, or other infractions of the law that occur as a result of the service to the police. Do not engage the other party. You are served. I will place the documents at your feet. Leave. File affidavit of service and forward a copy to the other party through email or regular mail. Include in your affidavit details of how you served the other party and that you are forwarding a copy of this affidavit of service to the known contact address of the served party. Registered mail is easily refused.

I dont know why however I do know that anxieties and depression can very often be the result of being on the recieving end of an abusive (phsychologically or physical). Getting away from such an abuser is the best start to recovery, unfortunately the courts often give such abusers control over you and as such make you a further victim of abuse.

This is part of the dynamic that leads to increased violence, instability, and suicides. Yet no matter how much this is researched and exposed judges will openly bash these findings in court and victimize you and your children under the guise that giving a mother (in this case) what she wants is best for the children.
